Next year, the ITV WEST Television Workshop celebrates its 25th Anniversary – and to mark the occasion, we are giving the Workshop back to the members!
This means that the young members of the workshop will be choosing which productions we put on, what films we make and will be writing, directing, acting, camera operating and stage managing everything themselves! So if you ever wanted to try your hand at writing, or directing or just have a fantastic idea for a show – now is the time to take action!
PLAYS:
We will be putting on at least two productions (depending on demand!) next year. The first will be a series of One Act Plays which will be performed at the Cotham School Theatre at the end of May 2010. The plays will be chosen by workshop members, star workshop members and be directed by workshop members – in fact you will have a hand in everything!
Myself and Co-Ordinator, Sam Cordy, will assist you every step of the way and will be producing all the productions and films alongside you. But we won’t interfere, we will give you our advice and help you as much or as little as you want us to!
If you are interested in directing a One Act Play in May next year, either by yourself or in collaboration with other people, then this is what you need to do:
· Choose / write the One Act Play that you would like to direct
· It must last no longer than one hour and no less than ten minutes
· Email us with the name of the play and let us know who would like to direct it (Whether it is solely you, or a collaboration with other members)
AND THEN
· In the Autumn Term we will chose the plays to be perfomed in the One Act Festival
· In January 2010 the auditions will be held for all the plays. The cast chosen and rehearsals planned
· In February your rehearsals will begin (at a schedule to suit you, your cast and the workshop availability)
· End of May 2010 the plays will be performed at Cotham School Theatre!
The Autumn production next year will be chosen and directed by you too – so start thinking about what show you would like the workshop to put on… a musical, a panto, a brand new devised piece of theatre or script – it’s up to you!
Email us with your suggestions now for the Autumn 2010 production, but please bear in mind that the show should involve as many workshop members as possible and be available to all age ranges. We will chose the show in the Autumn Term THIS YEAR – so get cracking!
FILMS:
You will also choose what films/ documentaries/ music videos/TV style programmes we produce next year. They will be written, directed and crewed by you and star workshop members. So if you have a script that you would like the workshop to consider, then email it to us now! Film ideas and scripts will be shortlisted in the Autumn Term and chosen in January. There is no limit to how many films we shoot next year, so if you have one, ten or thirty scripts, or film ideas - send them in!
